Off to the Races: Girl Guide Day at Mission Raceway Park

On Saturday, June 14th, 2025, during the Northwest National Open at Mission Raceway Park, we were thrilled to welcome over 200 Girl Guides for our first-ever “Off to the Races” Girl Guide Day at MRP. a special event designed to spark curiosity, foster learning, and give girls a unique look into the exciting world of drag racing. Girl Guides working on a collaborative art project at Mission raceway. Youth attended with their units and spent the day exploring the racetrack like never before. They had the opportunity to watch the thrilling races unfold from the stands, explore the pits and meet real racers and their teams, participate in interactive, race-themed learning and craft stations, and even witness a world-record-breaking run by Shawn Cowie—a moment that left a lasting impression on everyone in attendance. Adding even more inspiration to the day, we were joined by Cassandra Ebner, professional drifter and stunt car driver, who spent time engaging with the youth and sharing her experiences in the motorsports industry. Her message was empowering and unforgettable: “Girls can do anything.” Cassandra’s presence helped break down stereotypes and encouraged the next generation to dream big and push boundaries.

Whether they were watching the action on the track, chatting with racers in the pits, getting creative at the craft tables, or learning something new, the energy was high and the joy was unmistakable. It was a day filled with laughter, wide eyes, and the kind of memories that stick with you long after the engines quiet down.

To make the day even more engaging and welcoming, free freshly popped popcorn was available for all Girl Guides, and a dedicated PR table was set up to answer Girl Guide-related questions and connect with community members. In addition, Save-On-Foods Mission generously provided cold water and fresh fruit, helping everyone stay refreshed and energized throughout the day. This inaugural Girl Guide Day was about more than just watching races—it was a chance for girls to learn, explore, and see firsthand the many roles and opportunities that exist in the world of motorsports. It also created space for fun, connection, and empowerment.

Based on the enthusiasm and positive feedback from participants, leaders, and families, we’re hoping to make Girl Guide Day at the track an annual tradition.

To all the girls who joined us: thank you for bringing your energy, curiosity, and adventurous spirit. We can’t wait to see you back at the track next year!
